MN Lt Arty 2nd Battery. Residence: Fillmore County, Minnesota. Born in Stavanger, Norway. Came to the US in 1853 to Long Prairie, Illinois. In 1855, he returned to Norway to marry Annie Augland and to bring her and her parents to Fillmore County. Civil War: Age 26. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’6”. Enrolled 20 Feb 1862. Mustered date not shown. Private. Assigned as a wagon master. Assigned temporarily to the Illinois 2nd Artillery, Battery I. Fought in the battles for Atlanta. Returned to the Minnesota 2nd. Discharged from the service 28 Mar 1865 on expiration of his term. Post war: Moved to Sandness Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Farmer. Died on 15 Jun 1899 at age 64. Buried in the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery at Hanley Falls, Yellow Medicine County.
