Wounded at Shiloh and at Greenville, Mississippi. Re-enlisted 4 Jan 1864. Re-mustered 2 Feb 1864, and assigned to Company B, 3rd Veteran Infantry. Taken prisoner 22 Jul 1864, Atlanta, Georgia. Transferred on 4 Nov 1864 into Co F, 2nd & 3rd Veteran Infantry Consolidated, from Co B, 3rd Battalion. Mustered out 5 Jul 1865, Louisville, Kentucky. Post war: Lived at West Union, Iowa. Lived in Newry township, Freeborn County, Minnesota, in 1882. Received pension in 1883. Buried in North Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery; stone reads “2 Aug 1846-18 Aug 1919”.
