IL 36th Inf Co D. Residence: Lisbon, Kendall County, Illinois. Born 1836 in Norway. Came to America at age 9. Civil War: Farmer. Age 22. Unmarried. Blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion, 5’4”. Enlisted for three years on 15 Jul 1861 at Lisbon. Mustered 20 Aug 1861 at Aurora, Illinois. Private. Discharged from the service 22 Sep 1864, expiration of term of service. Post war: [The following information may apply to this man or to Ole Johnson of Decorah, Iowa, who served in the IA 6th Cav Co D.] After the war, he settled in North Dakota. Married. Three children. In February 1898, he had gone to a logging camp in Snohomish County, Washington, apparently in pursuit of better health.
