JORDE, Ole Olsen

WI 27th Inf Co H. Residence: Vermont, Dane County, Wisconsin. Born 25 Feb 1838 at Sondre Aurdal, Valders, Norway, a son of Ole Knudsen Jordet and Anne Gulbrandsdatter. Came to America to Dene County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Farmer. Age 24. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’10”, medium build. Enlisted for three years on 15 Aug 1862 at Vermont. Mustered 25 Oct 1862 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Private. Left sick at Helena, Arkansas, 13 Aug 1863. He had suffered sun stroke. Discharged from the hospital at Madison, Wisconsin, 9 Nov 1863, and rejoined his regiment 27 Nov 1863. Discharged from the service for disability on 12 Mar 1864 at Little Rock, Arkansas. Post war: Married on 14 Jan 1870 to Ellen Haug (1849-1894). Eleven children. Lived on a farm in Mayville, Traill County, North Dakota, beginning in 1879. He died at his farm home on 22 Jan 1919.
