Mustered 2 Jul 1861 at Racine, Wisconsin. Private. Missing following the battle of Port Hudson, Louisiana, on 14 Jun 1863. This Regiment on 1 Sep 1863 was changed to a cavalry unit, known thereafter as the Fourth Wisconsin Cavalry. Kittleson was discharged from the service 8 Jul 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin, expiration of term of service. Post war: Buried in Oak Grove cemetery, Whitewater, Wisconsin.
