Lived in Wisconsin for one year. Civil War: Age 21. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 7 Dec 1861 at La Crosse, Wisconsin, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 13 Feb 1862. Private. Left behind sick on Mississippi River Island No. 10. Sick in Iuka, Mississippi, 20 Aug 1862. Sick in hospital at Chattanooga. On 31 Mar 1863, he was reported to have deserted, but was later determined that he had been discharged from the service 14 Oct 1862 from Nashville, Tennessee. Post war: He became a farmer in Houston County. He was living in Riceford, Fillmore County, Minnesota, in 1890. He is buried in Our Saviors Lutheran Churchyard, Riceford, Minnesota.
