WI 28th Inf Co C. Residence: Oconomowoc, Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Born “Halvor Knutsen Rysstad” on 1 Nov 1840 at Valle, Aust Agder, Norway, son of Knut Halvorsen Rysstad and Margrithe Jonsdatter Brokke. They came to America on the “Magnolia” out of Havre, France, to New Orleans, Louisiana, arriving on 17 Nov 1845. They made their way to Lebanon, Dodge County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Farmer. Unmarried. Age 21. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’6”, slim build. Enlisted for three years on 15 Aug 1862 at Oconomowoc. Mustered 13 Oct 1862 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Private.
