KNUDSON, Knud S.

TX 2nd Inf Co E. CSA. Born “Knud Salvesen Kasin” on 3 Dec 1830 at Ovre Ramse, Tovdal, Norway. Civil War: Enrolled for the war on 29 Aug 1862 at Van Zandt County, Texas. Private. Captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi, and paroled there on 4 Jul 1863. Absent on furlough 14 Jul 1863 to 8 Nov 1863. Did not return to the 2nd Infantry but instead, in early 1864, he joined the TX 20th Cav Co C. He later told of carrying a psalm book in his breast pocket and that the book had stopped a Yankee bullet which he found in the book. Post war: Died 3 Oct 1910 in Bosque County, Texas.
