Civil War: Blue eyes, light brown hair, light complexion, 5’10”.Enlisted for one year on 15 May 1861 at Camp Harris, Tennessee. Private. Promoted to Sergeant in May 1862. Captured at Chickmauga, Georgia, 19 Sep 1863. Sent to Louisville, Kentucky, Military Prison, and transferred on 4 Oct 1863 to Camp Douglas, Chicago, Illinois. On 23 Mar 1865, he was transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland, where he took an oath of allegiance to the Union on 28 Jun 1865. He was given transportation to Galveston, Texas.
