Enlistment credited to La Crosse, Wisconsin. Mustered 4 Mar 1862 at Racine, Wisconsin. Private. Sick in hospital; returned to duty on 22 May 1863. Re-enlisted for three years on 12 Feb 1864 at New Bern, North Carolina. Said to have been a prisoner of war in Libby, Andersonville and Salisbury, North Carolina, prisons.
