Residence: Born 12 Aug 1821 in Bamble, Telemark, Norway, son of Lars Nielsen Tinderholt and Kirsten Marie Hansdatter Bamle. He was married on 29 Mar 1844 to Anna Sørine Sørensdatter Krabberød. They and two small sons came to America from Bamble on “Bowditch”, which sailed from Havre, France, and arrived in New York on 8 Aug 1846. They went first to Norway Township, Racine County, Wisconsin, where Anna died soon after their arrival. Nils and his children moved to Ossian, Winneshiek County, Iowa. He married on 23 Jun 1859 to Anne Maria Olsdatter Stensland. Civil War: Post war: He died 13 Jan 1911 and was buried in Stavanger Lutheran Cemetery, Winneshiek County.
