WI 32nd Inf Co D. Residence: Winchester, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. Born “Gunder Terjesen Skrædderstøl” on 15 Jul 1831 at Østre Moland, Aust Agder, Norway, son of Torger Larsen Longum and Anne Gundersdatter Flaa. He came to America on the brig “Juno”, which sailed from Arendal, Aust Agder about 4 Jul 1849 and arrived in New York on 18 Aug 1849. He came to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and in 1850 moved to Winchester Township, Winnebago County. He was married on 14 Apr 1857 to Mary Jane Rogers (1839-?). Five children. Civil War: Farmer. Age 31. Married. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’9”. Enlisted for three years at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on 21 Aug 1862. Enlistment credited to Winchester. Mustered at Oshkosh on 25 Sep 1862. Private. Promoted to Corporal on 1 Jun 1863. Mustered out with his company on 12 Jun 1865. On his final payroll muster sheet, his company commander wrote “Has been with Reg’t since organization, and participated in all its marches, campaigns, etc.” Post war: He died 21 Sep 1920.
