WI 53rd Inf Co B. Residence: Ettrick, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. Born 1830 in Ringsaker, Norway. He was married sometime before the war to Randine Stensven, who was born in 1832 in Ringsaker, Norway, and who died in 1915. They had four children, Lena, Elena, Julia and Lars. Civil War: Farmer. Age 35. Blue eyes, brown hair, dark complexion, 5’6½”. Enlisted for one year on 21 Mar 1865 at La Crosse. Mustered there the same day. Bounty $100, $33.33 paid. Private. On 10 Jun 1865 at Pleasant Hill, Missouri, all members of the 53rd were transferred into the WI 51st. Post war: He died in 1909 and is buried in the Ettrick Cemetery.
