Enlisted for three years on 24 Sep 1861 at Madison and mustered there on 13 Feb 1862. Assigned as Sergeant 16 Jan 1862. Sick in hospital at Louisville, Kentucky, 1 Oct 1862. Was acting regimental commissary sergeant for a time in 1864. Later assigned as a standard bearer. Mustered out with Company H on 13 Feb 1865, at Chattanooga, Tennessee. Entered on the Roll of Honor for the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 20th Army Corps. Post war: He was living in 1892 in Crookston, Minnesota, and at that time was Colonel of GAR Colham Post No. 90.
