WI Lt Arty 8th Battery. Residence: Scandinavia, Waupaca County, Wisconsin. New Hope, Portage County, Wisconsin. Born in Norway. Civil War: Farmer. Age 25. Blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion, 5’4”. Enlisted for three years on 21 Oct 1861 at Amherst, Wisconsin. Mustered 8 Jan 1862 at Racine, Wisconsin. Private. Sick in hospital at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on 16 May 1863. On 3 Oct 1863, he was at the provisions depot in Stevenson, Alabama, in charge of horses. Re-enlisted as a Veteran for three years on 5 Jan 1864 at Nashville, Tennessee. Re-mustered 26 Jan 1864 at Nashville. Mustered out 10 Aug 1865. Post war: A “Louis Louison 1838-1917” stone is in Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery Sect. I Row 11, Scandinavia.
