WI 15th Inf. Born 22 Sep 1837 in Sandefjord, Norway. Came to Canada in 1859. Worked as a steamboat clerk. Lived in Duluth, Minnesota. Came to Wisconsin in 1861 and enlisted. Civil War: Served 3 1/2 years. Sergeant. Then became a Lieutenant for another year. Took part in the battles of Missionary Ridge, Stone’s River and Chickamauga. Post war: Went to Decorah, Winneshiek County Iowa. Later became a merchant in Lyle and Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, and moved to Crookston, Minnesota, in 1878. Married Elizabeth Wilson in 1867.
