In 1857, they and five children came to America. Civil War: Age 45. Married. Enlisted for three years on 30 Sep 1861. Mustered 15 Nov 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Assigned to WI 15th Inf Co D, but was transferred to Company A on 3 May 1862. Left sick at Humboldt, Tennessee, 4 Jul 1862. Was sick in Iuka, Mississippi, 21 Aug 1862. Sick in hospital at Lebanon, Kentucky, 27 Oct 1862. Sick in Nashville 11 Nov 1863. Sick in Quincy, Illinois, 28 Nov 1863. Declared unfit for further service and was discharged in Nashville, 20 Jan 1864.
