WI 18th Inf Co G. Residence: Clark’s Mills, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. Born 3 Oct 1829 at Gjerpen, Telemark, Norway, son of Mads Christiansen Bøe and Kari Gundersdatter Sperrebakken. He came to America with his widowed mother and two brothers on the “Jupiter”, which sailed into Boston on 9 Aug 1847. They came to Cato Township, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. Hans was married on 6 Aug 1853 to Maria Rasmusdatter Lekaas. Two children. Civil War: Farmer. Age 35. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’9”. Drafted. Enrolled for one year on 30 Sep 1864 at Cato, Wisconsin. Mustered there the same day. Enrollment credited to Cato, Manitowoc County. Private. Post war: Buried at Gjerpen cemetery, Valders, Wisconsin; stone reads “3 Oct 1829 – 19 Jan 1907”.
