WI 15th Inf. Residence: Lancaster, Grant County, Wisconsin. Born in Scotland. Veteran of the Mexican War. Civil War: Served earlier as Captain in Wisconsin 2nd Infantry. Said to have no connections with Scandinavians, but was assigned to the 15th because the Governor wanted it. Commissioned 24 Mar 1862. Lieutenant Colonel, succeeding Kiler Jones.
