WI 22nd Inf Co I. Born 3 Apr 1840 in Norway. From Kongsberg, Norway. Came to America in 1862. Civil War: Enlisted within three weeks of reaching this country. Private. On 5 Mar 1862, he was wounded in battle near Franklin, Tennessee, and taken prisoner at Thompson’s Station near sthe battlefield. Escaped two days later. On 25 Mar 1862, he was again taken prisoner. Six months later, he was exchanged. Post war: Lived briefly at Sharon, Wisconsin. Married. Moved to Ashby, Grant County, Minnesota. Died there 7 Feb 1913. Buried in Pelican Lake Cemetery.
