Detached with his company at Mississippi River Island No. 10. Was a witness in a general military court in Columbus, Kentucky, 17 May 1863. Commissioned First Lieutenant 17 Jun 1863 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with rank from 21 Jan 1863 at Mississippi River Island No. 10. Was Company Commander for awhile in 1863. Was with the provision transport from Stevenson, Alabama, during October, 1863. Seriously wounded in his right shoulder at New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864, and was sent to hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
