Promoted to Corporal 25 Jul 1862. Took part in General Davidson’s Missouri campaign in 1863, and General Grant’s Mississippi Campaign in 1863. Was in the battles of Port Gibson 1 May 1863, Champion Hills, 16 May 1863, Big Black River Bridge 17 May 1863. Wounded in the assault on Vicksburg 22 May 1863. Took part in an expedition to Texas in 1863. Promoted to Sergeant 10 Feb 1864. Died in a hospital at New Orleans, Louisiana, 10 Oct 1864. “A good soldier”.
