Killed at battle of Kenesaw Mountain, Bald Knob, Georgia, 28 Jun 1864. Buried in National Cemetery at Marietta, Georgia; section G, grave 1449. Memorial stone is in East Koshkonong church cemetery, bearing his name and dates “2 Sep 1842-28 Jun 1864”.
