WI 27th Inf Co H. Residence: Whitewater, Walworth County, Wisconsin. Born 1841 in Amle, Norway. Civil War: Clerk. Age 21. Blue eyes, black hair, light complexion, 5’6”, medium build. Enlisted for three years on 14 Jul 1862 at Madison. Enlistment was credited to Madison. Mustered 25 Oct 1862 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Appointed Sergeant on 22 Oct 1862. Assigned as recruiter in Wisconsin for the 27th, on 17 Nov 1863. Promoted to First Sergeant 4 Jun 1864. Rejoined the regiment from detached service in Wisconsin on 14 Jun 1864. On 27 Oct 1864, he was listed as sick in Little Rock, Arkansas. On 29 Oct, he returned to duty. Commissioned Second Lieutenant 5 Jul 1865, from First Sergeant. Assigned command of the company on 14 Jul 1865. Promoted from Second Lieutenant, Company H, to First Lieutenant at Brownsville, Texas, 14 Aug 1865. Mustered out with company on 29 Aug 1865 at Brownsville, Texas. Post war: After the war, he became “Ole Falk”. Married in January 1866 to Mari Johannesdatter Gjerde. Six children. Lived at Stoughton, Wisconsin. Pharmacist. Died 6 Sep 1915 and was buried at East Side cemetery, Stoughton. His widow, Mari, prior to their marriage was a servant to John A. Holum.
