WI 40th Inf Co D. His parents Nils Olsen and Aase, came from Nummedal, Norway, to America, to Jefferson Prairie, Wisconsin, in 1844. Oley was born there on 10 Aug 1844. His father Niels Olsen enlisted in the WI 8th Inf and died of disease. Civil War: Oley enlisted for 100 days on 17 May 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin. Mustered 7 Jun 1864 at Madison. Private. Mustered out 16 Sep 1864 at Madison. Post war: Lived at Slater, Iowa. Moved to Portland, Oregon. Living in 1929.
