Came to the US in 1861, first to Rice County, Minnesota, and soon to Spring Grove. Civil War: Age 26. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’4”. Enrolled for one year on 3 Sep 1864 at Rochester, Minnesota. Mustered the same day. Recruit. Private. Discharged from the service with the Battery, 16 Aug 1865. Post war: Married Bridget Evenson on 8 Apr 1866. Moved to Becker County, Minnesota, in 1871. Was granted a pension of $8 a month for chronic rheumatism. Died 4 Dec 1918 of chronic nefloritis.
