WI 37th Inf Co A. Residence: Bear Creek, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin. Born Anund Olsen Traaserud on 30 Jan 1832 in Heddal, Telemark, Norway, son of Ole Olsen Hellem and Helge Kittelsdatter Traaserud. Came to America in 1847 to Spring Green, Sauk County, Wisconsin. On 21 Jun 1856, he married Gunhild Gulliksdatter Kolsrud who had come from Sigdal, Norway. Civil War: Farmer. Age 33. Married. Blue eyes, brown hair, light complexion, 5’11”. Enlisted for three years on 31 Mar 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin. Mustered 12 Apr 1864 at Madison. Private. Muster rolls of 31 Dec 1864 and 28 Feb 1865 both show him “sick in hospl since Aug 18, ’64”. Died of disease in hospital at Fort Schuyler, New York Harbor, on 19 Sep 1864. Buried in Cypress Hills National Cemetery, section one, grave 1925.
