MN Hv Arty 1st Reg Co L. Residence: Iosco township, Waseca County, Minnesota. Born in Eidsvold, Norway, 14 Jan 1835, son of Ole Christofferson Elstad (Kinn) and (Ingeborg) Maria Davidsdatter. He is a brother of John Oleson, who served in the same unit. Married in Perry, Wisconsin, in 1856 to Martha Gulbrandsdatter Anderson. Fifteen children, eight lived to adulthood. Civil War: Age 29. Blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion, 5’8½”. Enrolled 6 Feb 1865 at Faribault, Minnesota. Mustered 16 Feb 1863 at Fort Snelling. Private. Discharged from the service with his company, 27 Sep 1865, at Nashville, Tennessee. Post war: Died 20 Dec 1903 in Waseca County.
