Enlisted for three years on 21 Dec 1861 at Scandinavia, and mustered 8 Jan 1862 at Racine, Wisconsin. Private. Sick in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on 16 May 1863. Re-enlisted as a Veteran for three years on 5 Jan 1864 at Nashville, Tennessee, and re-mustered there on 26 Jan 1864. Re-enlistment bounty $400. A general court martial sentenced him on 11 Aug 1864 to be confined for six months and to forfeit half his allowances. Mustered out 10 Aug 1865.
