AL 24th Inf Co A. CSA. Born about 1834 in Kristiansand, Norway. Civil War: Shoemaker. Blue eyes, fair complexion, 5’7”. Enlisted for the war on 1 Oct 1862 at Bardstown, Kentucky. Private. This was his second enlistment; he had enlisted in the 3rd Alabama Volunteer Militia, Co C, on 4 Mar 1862 at Mobile, Alabama, and had been discharged on 25 Mar 1862 as unfit for duty. On 9 Oct 1862, he became a prisoner of war. The Federals on 25 Oct 1862 moved him from Camp Dick Robinson in Kentucky to a prison in Gallatin, Tennessee. He was exchanged sometime after 18 Nov 1862 and was put into a General Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. He was there from Dec 1862 until 27 Feb 1863, at which time he was discharged for disability.
