MN Lt Arty 2nd Battery. Residence: Winona County, Minnesota. Born 1841 in Drammen, Norway. Came to Utica, Winona County, Minnesota, and worked as a wheelwright. Civil War: Age 21. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’5”. Enrolled 21 Feb 1862. Private. An Artificer (a skilled and specialized mechanic). Was in a hospital in the fall of 1862. Re-enlisted 22 Mar 1864. Was in a hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in September 1864. Discharged from the service with the battery, 16 Aug 1865. Post war: Returned to Winona County. Died 3 Jun 1909 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
