Enlisted for three years on 30 Oct 1861 at Mosinee and mustered 30 Jan 1862 at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Private. Took part in the battle of Shiloh, Tennessee, 7 Apr 1862. Discharged from the service 24 Feb 1863. Re-enlisted as a veteran volunteer on 26 Feb 1864. Took part in the battle of Nashville, Tennessee, on 15 & 16 Dec 1864.
