He was the fourth child of Ole Torstensen Medalsplassen and Eli Ellefsdatter Bøleshagen. Came to America in 1861. Civil War: Age 21. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 28 Oct 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin, and mustered there on 16 Nov 1861. Private. Seriously wounded in Battle of Stone’s River, Tennessee, 31 Dec 1862, and died of wounds near Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 3 Jan 1863. Buried Stone’s River National Battlefield, grave unknown.
