WI 3rd Inf Co G. Residence: Clayton, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. Born 1837 in Norway. Civil War: Farmer. Age 23. Gray eyes, light hair, florid complexion, 5’6”. Enlisted for three years on 20 Apr 1861 at Neenah, Wisconsin. Mustered 29 Jun 1861 at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Private. Re-enlisted as a Veteran 21 Dec 1863. Promoted to Corporal 6 Mar 1864. Promoted to Sergeant 20 May 1865. “Participated in battles of Buckton Station, Winchester, Cedar Mountain, Pope’s Campaign, Antietam, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Resaca and Dallas, where he received a severe wound.
