MN 6th Inf Co I. Residence: South Bend, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Born 13 Jul 1839 in Norway, a son of Ole Olsen and Marta Thorsdatter. Came to the US to Minnesota in 1850. Civil War: Age 21. Enrolled 15 Aug 1862. Mustered 4 Oct 1862. Private. Discharged from the service with his regiment, 19 Aug 1865. Post war: Married in 1865 to Emma Olson. Moved to Sauk Center, Minnesota and then, in 1900, moved to Anoka, Minnesota. Olavus died on 3 May 1918 of bronchial pneumonia and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Anoka.
