WI 5th Inf Co A. Residence: Menomonie, Dunn County, Wisconsin. Born in Norway. Civil War: Enlisted for three years on 13 May 1861. Mustered at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Discharged from the service 15 Feb 1864. Re-enlisted. Discharged from the service 11 Jul 1865. In his GAR enrollment record he stated that he had been wounded at Rapahanock Station on 7 Nov 1863, at Charleston, Virginia, 1864, and at Wilderness, Virginia, on 5 May 1864. He also stated that he had been sick in hospital for rheumatism and for chronic diarrhea. Post war: Came to Freeborn County, Minnesota, after the war. Sources: (Kennedy, James B.
