PAULSON, Paul A.

WI 27th Inf Co G. Residence: Argyle, Lafayette County, Wisconsin. Born “Paul Andersen Raastad” on 13 Jul 1843 at Lunder, Hadeland, Norway. Parents were Anders Paulsen Raastad (Andrew Paulson) and Karin Henriksdatter Lunder. He came to America with his parents and a brother in 1849. They settled in Koshkonong, Dane County, Wisconsin, but soon moved to Argyle Township, Lafayette County. Civil War: Age 19. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’9½”. Enlisted for three years on 19 Aug 1862 at Highland, Iowa County, Wisconsin. Mustered 25 Oct 1862 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Bounty $100. Private until 13 Jul 1864, then Corporal until 1 Jan 1865, then Private again. $75 bounty money still due at muster out of company on 29 Aug 1865. Post war: Married Anna Maria Bratholt on 25 Dec 1867. Came to Deer Creek Township, Worth County, Iowa, in 1871. Moved into town of Northwood in 1901. Died 29 Apr 1913 at Northwood.
