PAULSON, Paul M.

WI 15th Inf Co K. Residence: Worth County, Iowa. Born “Peter Michelsen Paulsen Slatten” about 1842 in Hol, Hallingdal, Norway. He was a grandson of Dannebrogsman Paul Mickelsen Slaaten. Came to America in 1853. Civil War: Age 19. Unmarried. Blue eyes, red hair, fair complexion, 5’6”. Farmer. Enlisted for three years on 10 Dec 1861 in Worth County and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 11 Feb 1862. Private. Was on Military Police duty in October 1862. Taken prisoner at Chickamauga, Georgia, 19 Sep 1863, and died of disease in Libby Prison, Richmond, Virginia, sometime in March 1864. He is entered on the Roll of Honor for the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 20th Army Corps.
