US Army, 99th Inf. Residence: Tacoma, Washington. Born 1917 in Walderoy, Norway. Came to America at age nine. At age 15 he became a commercial fisherman. Second World War: Drafted. Volunteered for the 99th, an all-Norwegian unit. Rose to rank of Staff Sergeant. Fought in France, from D-day plus 4 to the Bulge. Awarded Bronze Star. Post war: Joined his father, Peter, in building purse seiner and gillnet boats that are still used from Alaska to California. Married to Joanne. Died 19 Jul 2000.
