WI 6th Inf Co B. Residence: Portland, Monroe County, Wisconsin. Born in Norway. Civil War: Carpenter. Married. Age 36. Blue eyes, light hair, flush complexion, 5’5”. Drafted. Enrolled for one year and mustered on 20 Sep 1864 at La Crosse, Wisconsin. Private. Joined Company B on 27 Nov 1864. Took part in the battle of Hatcher’s Run, Virginia, 6-7 Feb 1865, and was wounded on the second day of fighting. Discharged from the service 24 May 1865 from Satterlee US General Hospital at West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Post war: While living at Cashton, Monroe County, he was granted a pension of $6 a month because of a wound to his left leg.
