Enlisted for three years on 28 Feb 1862 at Madison, Wisconsin. Mustered 28 Feb 1862. Private. Was in the U. S. General hospital at Cumberland, Maryland, on 28 Sep 1863. Re-enlisted as a Veteran on 29 Feb 1864 at Camp Jessie, New Creek, West Virginia. Re-mustered there the same day. Bounty $400. In April 1864, he was on a 30-day re-enlistment furlough. On 23 Feb 1865, he received a 20-day furlough, by order of Major General Crook. Mustered out 10 Jul 1865 at Chicago, Illinois.
