REIERSON, John H.

TX 20th Cav Co C. CSA. Residence: Prairieville, Kaufman County, Texas. Born “Johan Heinrich Reiersen” on 17 Dec 1840 near Kristiansand, Norway. Civil War: Enlisted for one year on 10 Mar 1862 at Kaufman County, Texas. Private. Promoted to Sergeant Major and assigned to the Regimental Staff sometime before the Battle of Honey Springs in the Indian Territory 17 Jul 1863. In this battle he was singled out for praise by his Colonel and was cited for conspicuous bravery by Brigadier General Douglas Cooper. On 22 Jun 1864 he was promoted to Second Lieutenant. Post war: He died on 12 Dec 1921 at Kaufman, Texas, and is buried in the Kaufman Cemetery.
