RIME, Ole Engebretson

MN 2nd Cav Co D. Residence: Rice County, Minnesota. Born in Flaa, Hallingdal, on the Rime farm on 6 Oct 1841. Parents were Ingebrigt Gulbrandsen Rime and Mari Knudsdatter Avestrud. Ole was one of four children; others being Knut, Gulbrand and Barbro. Came to USA in 1861, on a sailing ship. Came to Orfordville, Wisconsin, and later to Spring Grove, Minnesota. Sometime later Ole went to Rice County and settled near Northfield. Civil War: Age 22. Enlisted 1863 and was mustered on 24 Dec 1863. Private. The 2nd Minnesota Cavalry was ordered west to fight Indians. Discharged from the service 2 Dec 1865. Post war: Ole Rime married Guri Pedersdatter Stavn in Rice County. She died five years later, leaving Ole with four sons, Julius S, Peder, Markus and Gilbert. Ole later married Ragnhild ?. He lived to age 84, dying at his home in Norway Lake Township, two miles north of Sunburg, Minnesota.
