Mustered 25 Feb 1862 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Sick in hospital at Nashville, Tennessee, on 26 Nov 1862 and, on 26 Dec 1862, he was moved to hospital at Louisville, Kentucky. Missing in Battle of Chickamauga, Georgia, 20 Sep 1863, and found to have been taken prisoner of war. He died of scorbutus at Andersonville Prison, Georgia, 1 Jan 1865. Buried there in grave 12,374.
