Born “Svend Terjesen Omholt” on 19 Apr 1822 at Øyestad, Aust Agder, Norway, son of Terje Knudsen Omholt and Gunnild Svendsdatter. He was married on 24 Nov 1848 to Catherine Larsdatter Lunde. They and their infant son Terje came to America on the brig “Juno”, which sailed from Arendal, Aust Agder, about 4 Jul 1849 and arrived in New York on 18 Aug 1849. They came to Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. In 1851 they moved to Winchester Township. Civil War: Farmer. Age 42. Married. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’8”. Enlisted for one year on 10 Feb 1865 at Dale, Wisconsin. Enlistment credited to Milford, Jefferson County. Mustered 21 Feb 1865 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Entitled to bounty. Post war: Moved in 1865 to Sand Creek Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin. He is buried in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Sand Creek.
