WI 15th Inf Co H. Residence: Christiana, Dane County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Age 18. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 14 Dec 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin, and mustered there on 13 Feb 1862. Designated Corporal on 16 Jan 1862, as company was being organized. Promoted to Sergeant 1 Aug 1862. Assigned as recruiter in Nov 1863. Sick in hospital at Keokuk, Iowa, since 22 Jun 1864. Later, he was moved to a hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, and from there was mustered out on 12 Feb 1865.
