WI 15th Inf Co I. Residence: Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Age 17. Unmarried. Enlisted for three years on 27 Sep 1861 at Madison and mustered there on 16 Nov 1861. Private. Detached and assigned to the 6th Ohio Battery 28 Oct 1863. Seriously wounded in a leg by a shell at New Hope Church, Georgia, 27 May 1864. Sick in Jeffersonville, Indiana, in October, November and December 1864. Mustered out from Harvey hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, 8 Dec 1864, on account of his wounds and because his term of service had expired. Died of a heart attack while in the Soldiers Home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on 24 Mar 1893.
