WI 15th Inf Co E. Residence: Perry, Dane County, Wisconsin. Born 1814 near Stavanger, Norway. Civil War: Age 44. Married. Enlisted for three years on 28 Oct 1861 in Dane County. Mustered 8 Dec 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. In January and February of 1863, he was assigned as a Nurse in the Regimental Hospital. Sick in a hospital at Chattanooga, Tennessee, on 28 Nov 1863. Sick in Nashville, Tennessee. Sick in Knoxville, 24 Feb 1864. Sent to Division Hospital at Nashville 28 Jun 1864. Mustered out in Madison, Wisconsin, 27 Jan 1865. Later moved to Iowa. There he married Martha, widow of another Civil War soldier, Roelof Johnson. In 1886, they moved to South Dakota. Tisdall died in 1905; his widow in 1914. Buried in Bethlehem Cemetery near Selby, South Dakota.
