Tankard-type butter mold. Hinged lid with geometric carving around exterior edge and raised ring with carving to simulate birch root wrapping around oval knob. Inside cover has deeply carved geometric sunburst design to imprint butter. Body and legs of mold are turned from single piece of wood. Four flat legs alternating with diamond shapes descending from body. Turned beading around base middle and top of body simulate birch root wrap. Thick handle has deeply carved open work in heart and other shapes. Hole in bottom center.
