Fred T. Larson was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1868 to Norwegian immigrant parents. After attending the Art Institute of Chicago, he apprenticed as a lithographer but instead took up the art of wood engraving. Larson became a successful painter and printmaker known for his woodcuts, block printing, and landscapes. He was also one of the founding members of the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago. Larson died in Chicago, Illinois in 1944.
